A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
We do not elect people to executive office who can show proven records demonstrating executive talent. We elect showmen. Putting on a good show gets them elected. You can’t expect a career gadfly like Lightfoot or career “investor” Pritzker to face and solve difficult and contentious political, financial, and personnel problems. Neither of them has ever had to recognize and solve difficult practical problems in their previous roles. Why should we expect them to do so now?
