We would be the only city among our peers charging anything close to this. Among the top 10 cities in the U.S. by population, just one (San Diego) imposes any cost on a business based on the number of jobs it creates. And the cost is minimal.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
Bloat needs money to survive – lots of money.
The question is Do you want more jobs in the city for your constituency or do you want less jobs and more people to live on government subsidies. ?
San Diegans can afford it. Chicagoans can’t.
