Those who make promises based on more spending are unlikely to support tax increases and voters will continue to vote for them. Your “suggestion” seems to assume smart voters who think long-term . Even the extra-bright teachers will vote their short-term pocketbook interests because salaries determine their pensions and their pensions can only be cut through bankruptcy. Plus Dem politicians are at least smart enough to schedule elections when turnout is low and the public employee vote can be assured … probably with no requirement to show up at school on election day. I wouldn’t need to remind you if people would stop with dumb statements like “four year pause on tax increases”. The state needs more money for all its planned spending so more tax dollars will be needed. If you try to remember that I won’t need to remind you of this basic fact.
