The finances of the Chicago schools are in such dire straits that it cost the Chicago Board of Education more to borrow for three months than some governments have to pay for a 30-year loan.

If proceeds from this bond offering are being used to cover everyday operating expenses, then why the heck do the investors get them tax exempt? I though that was a big SEC red flag.

The result of all this will be CPS being unable to attract the best and brightest teachers to educate those that need it the most…it’s as simple as that.
