Gov. Pritzker can’t have it both ways. He can’t claim he’s done a great job at managing Covid and yet still proclaim Illinois a “Disaster Area.” – Wirepoints Quickpoint

By: Ted Dabrowski and John Klingner

Gov. J.B. Pritzker can’t have it both ways. He can’t claim he’s managed Covid successfully and yet, more than two years later, still proclaim Illinois a “Disaster Area.” On Friday July 22, 2022, the governor extended his disaster proclamation for the 32nd consecutive 30-day period. Proclamation number one was on March 9, 2020.

Pritzker says his many executive orders remain “necessary” for him to manage Covid. But that explanation doesn’t hold up when you look at the rest of the country.

Illinois is now one of just 14 states still under Emergency Orders and the only one of its neighbors to still implement Covid rules via executive fiat.

Illinois’ neighbors ended their Covid emergencies months ago, or, in the case of Michigan, nearly two years ago.

House Speaker Chris Welch and Senate President Don Harmon share the blame for the governor’s continued control. They’ve had plenty of time to take back control and yet they’ve done nothing.

Back during his 2023 budget speech Pritzker said he strived to “make Illinois an example for the rest of the country for how to manage through the crisis.”

If he meant 32 consecutive disaster declarations and two-plus years of fiat rule, the rest of the nation should say “no thanks.”

Parts of Illinois can be called a disaster area but it has nothing to do with COVID and everything to do with Democrat insane policies!

It’s abhorrent, tyrannical, and intolerable that Pritzker is still issuing his absurd covid emergency orders. Most people experience covid as a minor cold or flu or asymptomatically.

Even the fact that some people do experience covid as a serious illness still doesn’t justify an emergency order.

Covid is not an emergency. It never was and never will be. Tyrants in the political, educational, media, and corporate establishment are simply using covid as a pretext for issuing onerous, liberty infringing mandates.

Covid is a pretext for these people to exert control over ordinary people.

Any comment on Pritzker’s gross abuse of power from his Republican challenger? Haven’t heard any myself.

If Bailey says something, but the news media ignores it, did it even really happen?

The reality is that the news media’s strategy will be to completely ignore Bailey unless he makes a gaffe, and then they will give it the customary 15 seconds of coverage in between weather and sports.

Yep, exactly correct. The legacy media won’t be the only folks ignoring Bailey. Pritzker will ignore him as well, and the MSM will let him get away with it because Pritzker’s their boy. Pritzker calculates that his candidacy doesn’t require him to persuade anyone inclined to vote for Bailey to vote for Pritzker for him twin reelection. Pritzker figures he wins without having to pick off a single Bailey leaning voter, so why give Bailey’s campaign momentum by even mentioning Bailey’s name in public – even if only to rubbish Bailey with fatuous mendacities. Why risk telling campaign lies about… Read more »

Bailey should show up in all counties and say he’s going to bus the illegals to Washington and New York like Abbott and Ducey did.

They’d be forced to cover him a little bit. They would give it negative spin but it’s the type of news that would work it’s way past their spin.

I agree with Pritzker that Illinois is a disaster, but COVID has nothing to do with it; he has everything to do with it.

GR8 article Ted & John ! And what a brilliant, succinct way to state it.
But let’s not worry, the Democrats running the state and cities are just in a dry spell
of doing everything that hurts the private sector and private sector employees.
It’s only been 50+ years, it will end soon and prosperity and economic freedom will return!
UGH…….maybe when pigs fly.
PS: Baltimore ain’t doing so well, either! But we moved down to Annapolis 3 yrs ago. Still getting taxed to death though! Won’t be long though, til we move to NC.

What a surprise from governor triple cheeseburger. He can’t even manage his own waistline.

Pritzker also campaigned on fair maps, and then after getting elected oversaw the most partisan and perverse remapping in America. Bloviating, lying, and corruption – Pritzkers core competencies.

***—Pritzker said he strived to “make Illinois an example for the rest of the country for how to manage through the crisis.”—***

A crisis of his own making…

JBP want to be *King*, a dictator…

He’s a megalomaniac that surrounds himself with *yes men*, no one dares to disagree in the echo chamber of Springfield…

He is Gov. LePetomane from Blazing Saddles…

It’s quite sad, how many people willingly give up liberties for the illusion of safety…

Illinois is a kingdom and JB is the king. There is no check to his acts by either the legislative branch or the judicial branch. How pathetic our state is…

A statewide concern: Illinois’ population decline outpaces neighboring states – Wirepoints on ABC20 Champaign

“We are not in good shape” Wirepoints’ Ted Dabrowski told ABC 20 Champaign during a segment on Illinois’ latest population losses. Illinois was one of just three states to shrink in the 2010-2020 period and has lost another 300,000 people since then. Ted says things need to change. “It’s too expensive to live here, there aren’t enough good jobs and nobody trusts the government anymore. There’s just other places to go where you can be more satisfied.”
