House Bill 43 would create a task force to look into what it would take to require insurance for Illinoisans who own firearms. “This would be like an insurance rider,” state Rep. Bob Morgan said. “We all have insurance on our home that you might have flooding insurance that would just kind of be a rider on your underlying homeowners insurance or you might have cybersecurity insurance for small business.” State Rep. Adam Niemerg sees it as "a penalty for those trying to exercise their Second Amendment rights."

The 2A is a right, not a privilege. Driving a car is a privilege, not a right. You can legislate insurance to drive a car because it is a privilege. You cannot legislate insurance to own a gun because it is a right. Morgan is a gun grabber to the nth degree. Morgan can go pound sand.

Will politicians be required to take out insurance against any and all lies that they may tell? I mean if we have to have insurance to enjoy our constitutional rights, the politicians should have to be covered when they abuse the First amendment!

Pretty slick how Morgan tries to conflate another penalty on law abiding gun owners with flood and cyberattack insurance. These guys never quit, do they?

Rep. Bob Morgan hates you, deplorable, and finds you and your beliefs repulsive. He’d lock you up in a camp if he could.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
