Wouldn’t it be cheaper for all concerned to put in whole house water filters that remove lead and other contaminants? Replacing pipes will take years. Top of the line filter is approx $1,700 and much cheaper for just main drinking faucet. This would be a good short term alternative before the pipes are replaced. I would also have people get tested for heavy metal toxicity with a hair or fingernail sample which is non invasive.
