Chicago’s biggest drug and medical technology companies are sitting out the rush for overseas tax havens.  Medtronic Inc.’s agreementto buy Irish medical device maker Covidien PLC is the latest move by a U.S. health care company to cut its tax bill by reincorporating abroad.  Our stay-at-home pharmaceutical companies could be passing up tax savings that can run into the hundreds of millions for big firms.
