The law was bulldozed through in 2010 by House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton in less than 12 hours with no analysis, debate or actuarial assessment.
It’s probably even more one-sided than 88% Democrat. Typically the public sector unions only contribute money to Republican candidates during primaries when they’re running against other Republicans. Remember how much money Dillard got from the teacher unions and AFSCME against Rauner in the primaries? Another prime example is Sandra Pihos (R) in the 48th district. She pretty much ran unopposed most of her career and got minimal union funding from IPACE (NEA PAC fund). She once ran against a D in 2010 and got zero IPACE funding.
