The data compiled by Harvard and Brown universities and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation shows as of Nov. 16, 2020, the number of Illinois small businesses open decreased by 35.4 percent compared to January of this year. The national average businesses counted during that period is 28.9 percent fewer.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
