New poll shows Pritzker leading Bailey by 10% with majority support only in Cook County – Wirepoints Quickpoint

A new poll conducted July 17 – July 19 by Victory Research shows Gov. JB Pritzker ahead of challenger Darren Bailey by about 10%. When asked whom you would vote for if the election were held today, 39% said Bailey and 48.9% said Pritzker.

But when asked whether Pritzker deserves another term, Illinois voters were split nearly evenly, with 46.6% saying it’s time for a new governor while 47.3% would give Pritzker another term.

What’s perhaps most striking, though not so unusual in Republican-Democratic contests, is the concentration of Pritzker’s support in Cook County. The poll shows him up by 7.5% in suburban Cook County and a whopping 55.5% in the City of Chicago. Bailey is ahead in every other section of the state including, most notably, Chicago’s collar counties. On whether Pritzker should be replaced, however, only City of Chicago voters support another term for Pritzker; even Cook County suburbs prefer someone new.

Notable also is that the widely reported national shift of Hispanic voters to Republicans does not yet appear to be evident in the race. The poll shows Pritzker ahead by over 29% with Hispanics.

I don’t trust polls. J.B. Pritzker has cheated on his taxes by smashing his toilets so he can keep close to $300,000.00 instead of paying his fair share of taxes. Pritzker has mismanaged the COVID19 Pandemic with a misuse of power, instituting Executive Orders and Mandating the use of masks that do little more than stop spit, even buying, with our Illinois Tax Money, defective masks from China 🇨🇳 Governor J.B.Pritzker’s use of Executive Orders to Mandate taking an Experimental Vaccine otherwise lose your job, is an egregious injustice that no one should give any credibility to his executive orders… Read more »

Run some ads targeting the high school athletes that missed a year or two of sports because of pritzker’s mandates. That should be a decent amount of anti pritzker votes.

This polling data shows that Pritzker is in big trouble…it is almost a duplicate of what transpired in 2014 when Republican Bruce Rauner was elected Governor. Blacks and Hispanics will not turn out in sufficient numbers to elect Pritzker…they along with suburban moms are not happy with Pritzker. His relentless and tyrannical implantation of his Covid mandates caused tremendous unnecessary hardships and suffering.

What is suspiciously absent is the support of the IL GOP establishment. They have someone in Bailey and DeVore that change this state. And no one mentions Baileys running mate, Trussell, who is a fantastic woman candidate (but needs to speak up more). Bailey’s machine does not seem to be ready for primetime yet. If they can spin Pritzker into positive territory, Bailey should be a shoo in when parents are reminded of school shut downs, high taxes and crime. This shouldn’t even be close. So why is Irvin and the rest not getting behind who the citizens want? Makes… Read more »

Bailey has to campaign hard in the suburbs and collar counties, especially populous DuPage and Lake counties. He needs to emphasize Pritzker’s ruinous mask mandates on children and the closing of schools to pick up the Karen vote. He also needs to stress the crime epidemic with the suburbanites, and link all the woke DA’s to Pritzker. He needs to tell everyone that the Dems have left their traditional voters behind to favor the rich, fringe elements of Illinois. In the city, all he can do is go to the black and Hispanic churches, but as @debtsor says, these voters… Read more »

Problem is whatever he tries to do will be deemed as racist. No one is prosecuting any crime especially if perpetrated by someone of color. Going after Foxx and the mayor will also be racist. Going after the Chicago school district by advocating school choice he will lose thousands of votes not including their families. His stance on abortion is almost hardcore with no wiggle room. Many if not most abortions occur in Chicago (inner city) and Cook county. If he backed off and promoted prevention and better birth control that would help. He cannot go against the public unions… Read more »

The choice in Nov is a stark contrast between Ultra MAGA with Darren Bailey, and Progressivism with Jabba the Hut. There’s nothing Bailey can do to convince a former Jabba the Hut voter to vote for him and vice-versa. The few that will switch sides are statistical anatomies. There’s nothing either candidate could say to become acceptable to the other side. The key to this election is turnout, turnout, turnout. Darren needs every voter – dead or alive – to show up downstate. And JB Pritzker needs the same for the Chicago area. I often repeat here over and over… Read more »

I think you meant this for another news story – there’s no place for ‘family friendly’ drag shows anywhere.

Parents who would bring this kids to this kind of spectacle should have their heads examined.

Is there anyone out there that can explain to me what is a family friendly drag show?
Plenty of old shows where people dressed as the other sex. Milton Berle, Bosom Buddies. But not really drag shows, at least to me.

The clerks reading this website and forum only need to wait a few hours longer to report. Why report at 8:10 pm or whenever the polls close? What’s the hurry to report. Why not just sit on the results a few hours, or a day? We all know Bailey is going to win nearly all downstate counties – that’s no surprise. Everyone in the state waits for Northern IL results. But why? Why shouldn’t Chicago/Cook report first, even if its late into the night? Why does downstate have to report first always? Downstate counties need to only say “Hey, we… Read more »

GOP candidates tend to talk at Chicago residents and not TO. We’re always treated as though we don’t know what’s going on. Kim Foxx was re-elected because many good people decided NOT to vote because the option was more of the same under Foxx or another Democrat calling himself a Republican in O’Brian (that’s the perception). Sen. Bailey’s best bet is to come into Cook County, talk to people, discern, and include them as stakeholders. Show up to community events already taking place, and learn from the residents, you can’t come with a plan for a place you know nothing… Read more »

I think polls are interesting in as much as it’s not difficult to illuminate their biases by looking at their methodology (if it’s available).

Sadly, as you say, too many polls are propaganda-n-politics camouflaged as statistics-n-science.

Still, spending a few minutes with the methodology will often tell you how much lying one side or the other thinks it needs to do to get a poll that “proves” they’re right.

Why isn’t the ILGOP and the Cook township organizations doing more to haul water? Where are the Republican House minority and Senate minority leaders?

These are serious questions, ones that require serious answers and serious solutions to the serious problems in leadership.

I’m sad and frustrated that disenfranchised voters who really want change may use the sobering Cook/Chicago polls to remain paralyzed on the sidelines. We all have to hang together, folks. Keep showing up!

There aren’t very many of us left here in Cook County and we vote consistently and reliably. We are about a quarter of the county. We can usually elect a couple of cook county commissioners, some township folks, and some local non-partisan officials with conservative values. We are surrounded by Democrats everywhere we go. We will need 140% turnout downstate to win (wink, wink, count all those unpostmarked ballots up to 14 days after the election and call any one who questions the count a racist).

C’mon – for a long time now the ‘thought leaders’ of the IL GOP were more Leftist than a MO Democrat. Just look at Jim Edgar.

The ‘Great Sorting’ combined with Democrats ‘Replacement Theory’ will make IL every bit as Leftist as CA.

Folks south of I-80 are no more than serfs in IL.

There are far too many people on State and local public union payrolls in Cook County. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr debts or himself wasn’t a payroll patriot. Like most of the cops. They hate the dems, yet vote dem anyway to keep their pension benefits strong. Don’t be fooled by keyboard jockeys.

Further, when it comes to budgeting, there is very little difference between the two parties. There is really only o new party anyway.

If every man women and child voted for Bailey South of I 80 and West of Rte. 47 and all the way down to Kentucky, Pritzker would still win. Because Cook, DuPage, Lake, and Will Counties will dig up whatever votes are needed to protect their interests.

How does anyone of any political persuasion think the worst governor in Illinois history deserves another term?

This state’s biggest problem isn’t the politicians.

It’s the electorate.

The problem with Illinois is the people who live and vote here. Your short haired harpie AWFL neighbor. Your progressive millennial DSA member neighbor. Your (public) union-strong neighbor household. The government employee down the block. The community organizer one town over. The college towns with 100% liberal professors. The lakeshore champagne liberals. The church that hosts democrat politicians every sunday. The monkeypox’d crowd with the insane colored flags. The “Hate has a home here” signs folks. This is your IL.

Number of half-empty Chicago public schools doubles, yet lawmakers want to extend school closing moratorium – Wirepoints

A set of state lawmakers want to extend CPS’ current school closing moratorium to February 1, 2027 – the same year CPS is set to transition to a fully-elected school board. That means schools like Manley High School, with capacity for more than 1,000 students but enrollment of just 78, can’t be closed for anther three years. The school spends $45,000 per student, but just 2.4% of students read at grade level.
