Officials insist “affordable bail” does not contribute to Chicago violence, but court cases tell a different tale – CWB Chicago

"Foxx’s claim is skewed because she limits the amount of time that gun defendants are given to qualify as a re-offender...she drives the re-offend statistic down by creating a tight window of opportunity for someone to get caught with another gun."

Roughly 2,800 shootings in Chicago this year. Is it possible any of those were committed by someone released on affordable bail? Or did they promise to behave when they were let out on affordable bail.

The CWB article illustrates the loopholes well. As to the ytd totals, here are some figure from the Hey Jackass website. Year to Date totals as of September 8, 2020 @ 7:08 am: Shot & Killed: 495. Shot & Wounded: 2,414. Total Shot: 2,909. Total Homicides: 541. Hey Jackass updated its annual City of Chicago summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day) killed and wounded figures.

99% increase in those killed (172 in 2019, 342 in 2020).

81% increase in those wounded (890 in 2019, 1,607 in 2020).

Of the 342 killed in 2020, there were 285 Blacks, 47 Hispanics, and 9 Whites.

The sub-totals add to 341, so perhaps one was Asian or an Indigenous People?

Regardless that is 83% black, 14% Hispanic, 3% White.

Thus the BLM movement coincided with a huge increase of blacks killed in the City of Chicago.
