Zero media coverage of Gov. Pritzkers’ 33rd consecutive 30-day Covid ‘Disaster Declaration’ – Wirepoints Quickpoint

By: Ted Dabrowski and John Klingner

Six days into Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s latest renewal of his Covid emergency orders, we haven’t found anyone in the press that’s said one peep about it.

Last Friday, the governor signed yet another Disaster Declaration for Illinois and all of its 102 counties. It was his 33rd consecutive 30-day declaration since March of 2020.

Pritzker has retained the use of Emergency Powers for more than two-thirds of his time in the governor’s office. The disaster declaration continues to give the governor power to rule without checks and balances from the legislature, 896 days after the pandemic began.

Extreme executive power – or at least the potential for it – is being normalized in Illinois. Governors in a vast majority of other states gave up their powers months ago, or they had those powers restricted from them by the courts (e.g., Michigan) or by their legislatures.

Not here in Illinois. The courts have by-and-large rubber-stamped the governor’s actions. And Illinois House Speaker Chris Welch and Senate President Don Harmon have done nothing to take back the legislative power they legitimately own.

Supporters of Pritzker’s declarations will declare, as the governor’s spokeswoman did, that the declarations are all about ensuring Illinois continues to get more federal Covid dollars.

Nonsense. Thirty eight states have already dropped their emergency orders, according to the latest count by the Center Square.

But if Illinois still wants to feed at the federal trough – which perpetuates the country’s inflation mess – then it should do what Indiana did. That state ended its state of emergency after passing a law that “permits Indiana government to continue receiving certain federal Medicaid and food assistance funding…” according to the Indiana Healthcare Association.

With the knowledge that Covid isn’t going away anytime soon, the question that should be asked is: How long will Pritzker be allowed to operate via emergency rules?

It’s a question that should be asked of the media, Illinois’ political elite and ordinary Illinoisans.

Emergency Powers is nowhere to be found in the Illinois state constitution. The Illinois state legislature contains no constitutionally granted authority to violate the Illinois Bill of Rights and the separation of powers. So any pretended lawful emergency powers for the governor is completely contrary to the Illinois constitution and is blatantly unlawful.

He will never give up. That POS deserves to rot for his willingness to destroy Chicago/Illinois over his ego. This state is terrific.. In the olde English sense…

The next emergency will be all the people that got the jab and boosters and now have ruined immunity systems.

Wait until they find out the have AIDS courtesy of the booster. Steve Kirsch, who had donated tens of millions to Democrats and could not get anyone to meet with him does an excellent analysis on infowars.tv of the data. It’s all about the numbers, just like Ted and Mark say.

I’m sure it’s been duly noted by any businesses, if there are any, thinking about moving to or expanding in IL.

We had a similar problem in Michigan with Wretchen Nitwit.

The Michigan Supreme Court ruled that her unending Covid emergency renewals usurped the legislature’s powers and prohibited her form declaring any more health emergencies.

Maybe that could happen in Illinois.

Sadly, I don’t think it will here. Unless someone presses the issue

Will never happen with a Democrat controlled judiciary.

Easy answer: count how many months till the end of his term and multiply by one. Those with power want to keep it, and nobody in this Godforsaken state is going to challenge him.

Weaponized Government Failure: “Somewhere along the line, the urban Democrat machine politicians realized that running cities badly enough would chase off the middle class and leave them with a thin crust of wealthy people over a large mass of the poor. And a city thus populated would never elect Republicans, or even reform-minded Democrats. Accountability would disappear.”

Maybe JB has it on automatic renewal

Democrats are authoritarians. So it will never end. I’m deeply concerned that when JB loses in November he’s going to keep the emergency going, declare the election illegal, dissolve the legislature and stay in power. If he does eventually concede, I fully expect him to sabotage the incoming Bailey administration.

Honestly debtsor if Bailey doesn’t pick it up and focus on things people are concerned about in this state and Trump it up (no pun) in cook county he is done for and we will be stuck with Illinois worst governor in the history of Illinois another 4 years unless Devore keeps pursuing the Jenny Thornley issue that is haunting Raoul and Pritzker.

What scares me is that if Bailey continues with his anti-abortion issues he will lose a lot of potential voters and the election. He should focus on not getting pregnant in the first place and have options like birth control/abstinence without sounding like he’s preaching.Avoid getting the need for an abortion. Also the consequences of STD’s which are still rampant and maybe if this word is still in the dictionary “Virginity” not Virginia City or West Virginia or Virginia maybe show episodes of The Virginian. He should pound this into every head that are you better off with JB raising… Read more »

Freddy,  I am 100% pro-life.  Just so you know where I’m coming from.  And I believe in virginity before marriage 100%.  And I’m not particularly enamored of Daren Bailey as a Republican candidate.  But the media will play up Bailey’s pro-life position and his Holocaust vs. Abortion position to make him sound like a crazy Holocaust denying anti-Semite.  He’s got to address the many other legitimate issues voters are facing in Illinois.  And yes, I know that you have to get the mainstream media to fairly cover his positions on those issues and that will be difficult.  But, Republicans don’t have the chance of the proverbial snowball in… Read more »

Repurpose Soldier Field into the Taj Mahal of abortion mills. That would intersect with the Hobbesian way of life Chicago has devolved into.

The leftists, including the media boot-lickers, find, highlight, and then repeat as often as possible, things like the holocaust/abortion comment. And they allow/provide little to no other coverage of anyone who is running that could truly benefit our state. We are truly in a pickle. Only prayer can help!

Absolutely correct. The role of the media in suppressing legitimate dialog is criminal. God bless Wirepoints for doing their level best to give us the other side clearly and consistently.

Pritzker’s done absolutely nothing for Illinois as far as I’m concerned, he’s touted all these great bills he signed into law with federal monies. If this money didn’t exist it would be a total catastrophe in Illinois, Pritzker is not a leader he is a spoiled little boy who hasn’t grown up yet he is in it for his own benefit and his benefit only. Not one candidate for Governor has touted how there going to fix Illinois decades old problem, pensions and property taxes not a one and until WE THE PEOPLE start standing up for ourselves guess what… Read more »

Bailey isn’t losing any voters because of abortion. He already has as many voters as he needs to win the election. He just needs more of his voters to show up in Nov. than JB’s voters…which is an uphill battle because there are more D’s in IL than R’s, because the R’s have all died or left the state in the previous 20 years.

True-JB has the union vote and when you add in their spouses and some other family members who benefit from their wages that should account for at least 1.8 M or more. Now add in all those who get freebies he is way over 2.5 M. Plus many who died from Covid recently will still get ballots and vote.It takes time for the paperwork who just died to catch up. For Bailey to win he will need at least 2.6M votes and many from Chicago and Cook county which will be nearly impossible. He has to push the crime issue… Read more »

Illinois is the state for people who want to fund this nonsense also. If cps spends 28k per student and a family has three children, real estate taxes on that family’s home would need to be over $84,000 per year. 12 years at cps? $336,000. Three kids at cps for twelve years? $1,008,000. And the return on that investment is a negative sum for Illinois and the rest of the country. So, Illinois go ahead and wage slave all your life so that social justice warriors can brainwash your children.

Total public school expenses in Illinois for 2M students is over $32B and that includes all or partial pension pickups for many school district teachers. At least 60% of that is picked up by local taxpayers/30% or so from the state and approx 10% from the feds. Now add almost $10B in pension payments to retirees adds up to over $42 Billion to educate the kids which is equal to the entire state budget.

Yes, and doesn’t include all the other hands in the real estate tax trough like fire and police salaries and pensions. And of course don’t forget the jr colleges and state colleges. The total sum is mind boggling. Look! The American dream.

A statewide concern: Illinois’ population decline outpaces neighboring states – Wirepoints on ABC20 Champaign

“We are not in good shape” Wirepoints’ Ted Dabrowski told ABC 20 Champaign during a segment on Illinois’ latest population losses. Illinois was one of just three states to shrink in the 2010-2020 period and has lost another 300,000 people since then. Ted says things need to change. “It’s too expensive to live here, there aren’t enough good jobs and nobody trusts the government anymore. There’s just other places to go where you can be more satisfied.”
