Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. That the Fibune languishes on as a going concern is the 8th Wonder of the World.
If a tree falls in a forest and there’s nobody there to hear it, does it make a sound? What exactly is a Chicago Tribune?
Is it possible that the female reporters and the black reporters are simply incompetent? I can say for certain that Heidi Stevens is a woke zombie and anyone who’s title is “criminal justice reporter” is massively biased from the start.
Anyone know anybody who still subscribes to the Trib? There can’t be a whole lot of revenue to compensate any of the remaining staff. The amount of money needed to settle this lawsuit and back pay for this large number of employees will bankrupt the Trib for good. No tears here.
These kids don’t understand that the Trib is already dead. In response to the collapse in subscribers, the Trib has resorted to littering Chicagoland driveways with the print equivalent of spam. These mini-papers, basically unsolicited ads without the propaganda, is their last attempt to survive and it fits nicely in my trash can. There are no journalists at the Trib any more. Only low rent activists remain to regurgitate DNC talking points and pretend it’s news. The company got rid of the real journalists over the last twenty years, replacing them with DNC stenographers like the odious Kristi Parsons. Bleeding… Read more »
The staff has been cut so severely in recent years that I suspect it may be difficult to calculate actual comparative wages. The Sun-Times article indicates 57 people are discriminated against. What is the total number of journalists, editors, photojournalists that the paper employs? The article doesn’t tell us how many non-discriminated-against staff there are,and gives only slight indication of what their wages might be. In the old days, unsatisfied journalists had little alternative because they couldn’t afford the massive investment in presses, distribution, and other capital to start their own newspapers. Nowadays, the barriers are much less and it… Read more »
This should put the last nail required in the coffin for putting the paper into bankruptcy, so EVERYONE looses their job. (equally)
