Much of the routine trade and investment between China and America is entirely appropriate and in America’s interest. But inserting the Chinese Communist Party into America’s pay-to-play system and its economic development strategy isn’t just crossing a line. It’s a leap into an abyss of stupidity.
All these data centers already built but no meaningful solutions for important problems yet. Still no cure for cancer, no breakthroughs in solid state batteries for EV’s or motors that don’t require rare earths from China, no solutions for reducing pollution. It’s almost like they’re doing this to build a totalitarian surveillance society or something.
Amazon is also in the process of constructing a 10 mil data center in Montgomery County, Mo.
Another win for IN. Another reason we left IL for IN.
The utter futility of our elected officials
to direct this state and its cities without
common sense and over taxation is
criminal. The combined mental capacity
of the state and city politicians to govern
is exceeded by the common garden slug,
with apologies to garden slugs world wide.
Building anything is 3x the cost in Illinois and maintaining and staffing it is like walking down the the dark hallway to meet Jason….
$11 billion project, while Illinois and Chicago scratch their whatever on what to do on data centers.
IL showed no such hesitation when it came to the failed Lion Electric company or pushed for the Chinese Communist connected Goton in Manteno, though.
Pretty sure those companies had massive contributions to Pritzker and Strattons’ campaigns. Quid pro quo nothing to see here
