Ok, fine, but it’s not 2008, BO was in office helicoptering money to solve every crisis that popped up; particularly where he could pander to his base, those days (hopefully) are over. What that created is the Moral Hazard we see today throughout Blue cities. Bessent and Trump know that and are not going to continue to allow it to go on, they know it’s destroying affordability in this country. There’s going to be a rude awakening for the progressive political class…and it can’t happen soon enough.

Detroit Resurrected is a very good book and is worth reading. There are some good videos on Youtube about the city post bankruptcy. Some are positive, some are positively scary.

The book is very good, but people need to look carefully at the dynamics going on there. It required power OUTSIDE Detroit to sweep in and shove the corrupt local politicians out of the way. It also helped to have art that the city owned and held hostage (remember the “Grand Bargain”?) Also, the prior mayor got federal charges, and other things were going on (not necessarily covered in the book). Nobody is coming in from outside Chicago without corrupt Chicago ties to save Chicago.
