In Chicago, real-estate developer Marc Calabria bought a 485,000-square-foot office building for $4 million. The building sold for $68.1 million a decade ago. It will be converted into an urban farm and education center.

Half the Loop will look like all of downtown East St. Louis by the end of 2040. They’re just going to abandon some of the older class C buildings, and the class A’s will concentrate in the West Loop and north.
Urban farming has been tried before. The costs are high and the profits low. Look for this building to be for sale in three or four years when this venture fails.
