It’s rare to see city leaders in Chicago take an open, unabashed stance on the collapse of literacy. To complain is deemed as too political, too racist or too anti-public schools. The reason none of them will jump into the race is they are smart enough to know that their lefty schtick only plays in a small number of places. Once they get on the national scene the intense exposure will put the spotlight on all their failed policies.
