Bailey says Illinois GOP should give him a 2nd chance to take on Gov. Pritzker – St. Louis PR

Darren Bailey, R-Xenia, pictured on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at St. Louis Public Radio’s headquarters, is hoping to unseat incumbent Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker in November’s midterm elections."Polling released last month could show that Bailey is one of the most recognizable names in Republican politics, but he lost to Pritzker by 12 percentage points in 2022 — leaving Republican voters with a key question on March 17: Should they renominate Bailey or choose a political newcomer to take on Pritzker in November?"

Darren lost the Cook County Metropolitan area to JB by More Votes than what Rauner did when he lost to JB. Not exactly a recipe for success.

Bailey is either too stubborn or too dumb to realize he messed the bed last time. He could’ve done the smart thing and quit the race allowing the mayor of Aurora to surely waltz into office, but he wouldn’t.

Are you out of your BLEEPING mind? Bailey in 2022 had 26,000 votes less than Rauner did in 2018. JB Pritzker had 226,000 fewer voters in 2022 than he had in 2018. Who? You might want to do some basic research as to who is running. If it’s someone obscure you may need to provide some information if you want to garner support for some unknown candidate.

Ken is great but he’s only guaranteed 1.7 million votes. Not sure how or where he’ll ‘find’ another 500,000 – 800,000 votes to overcome JB’s expected 2.2 to 2.5 million votes. He’s not flipping any Democrat voter. Few voters in the state feel that they got a bait and switch with JB, feeling he’s too progressive, and they want to vote Republican instead. I wish him the best of luck, he’s got my vote, but I’m not expecting a win.

Bailey has to come to the realization he has no prayer of winning and walk away with his dignity intact
