We are witnessing in real time the collapse of a world class city’s education system and the takeover by true haters and bigots. Their lack of knowledge of basic history is appalling. Brandon must not be aware that Illinois was never a slave state. And he must have forgotten that almost 35,000 Illinois young men– who happen to be almost 100% white men– died in the Civil War fighting to end slavery. Poor and uneducated is where Mr. Johnson’s supporters are and as long as they continue to fall for his siren song of race baiting that is where they and their children will stay.

I take your point, but it’s actually *plurality* White, and majority non-White. That is, assuming that Hispanics are non-White.
