Do we think the city has access to enough collection lawyers to wait around clogged courts with sketchy judges and unruly juries to gain revenues that exceed costs? Plus imagine the volume of wrongful discharge suits if the city decides to fire the delinquents. Likely the word is getting around so that increasing numbers of public servants will begin ignoring bills. How about a mass firing followed by a bankruptcy to wipe out the wrongful discharge suits as well as the pensions? Where State laws are a joke, turn the tables in a final Federal gotcha. Yup, in the real world these debts would be sold to collection services every year. Just more evidence that public employees are all about grift in Chicago. And then Pritzker acts like a hero by having state taxpayers give these freeloaders bailouts, reinforcing their irresponsible behavior.
