Cook County leaders get some but not all property tax relief legislation sought in Springfield – Chicago Tribune/Yahoo

To give taxpayers more financial wiggle room between due dates of the twice-a-year county property tax bills, the state legislation also successfully moved Cook County’s due date for the spring bills, or “first installment,” one month later to April 1. In a fiery budget hearing Thursday morning, when the bills’ fate was uncertain, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas threatened to print first installment bills a month later “no matter what anyone tells me.”

I saw that Pappas the other day claims that the already late 2024 second installment won’t be coming out until next year, after the date of the 2025 first installment is due, because the third party processor can’t get it’s act together to send out error free bills. Think about that – tax payers are going to owe a full year’s taxes next summer and then get whacked again in the fall for another bill. It’s a cluster. But keep electing Democrats folks!

“Wiggle room” isn’t the solution to late tax bills nor to excessive taxes, but would be a bit of a convenience for taxpayers. In this regard, why can’t Cook County allow monthly tax payments, as available in St. Clair County.

“ You can’t make me do my job in an efficient manner!” a defiant Pappas announced. Perhaps she was the bookkeeper at Alexi’s failed/ taxpayer bailed out Broadway bank?

Vote these incompetent Democrats out. Their couldn’t get competent people to transfer data from one computer system to the new one and get the bills out on time. That’s their job and they’re not doing it.

Wirepoints’ Mark Glennon on AM560: Why We Need to “Relentlessly” Make the Blue State-Red State Case

Glennon raised the stakes of the moment in broader civilizational terms: “This election in Illinois is not about the usual pedestrian issues… it’s about nothing less than whether Western civilization survives in our democratic republic of America because [the left], just on the open border alone, will destroy the country, and now they’re bringing in the jihadists, frankly, into the party.” Audio and summary linked here.Audio and summary linked here.
