CTA Board Approves Slate of Social Service Outreach Efforts Focused on Violence Intervention, Homelessness – WTTW

The Chicago Transit Authority’s board of directors approved an array of new efforts aimed at aiding passengers who need shelter or healthcare, as well as new crisis and community violence intervention programs. Calling the approvals a “historic moment,” acting CTA President Nora Leerhsen said the agency is positioning itself as a national leader on alternative interventions. Nora is confused. CTA is an acronym for Chicago Transit Authority. That’s transportation as in busses and trains not shelters, soup kitchens and shrinks. It’s definitely not Call To Action. Here we go another $9 million NPO scam. Where’s DOGE?”

Leerhsen…studied the inner workings of Chicago’s local government and the historical roots of segregation and inequality under Professor Green while earning her Master of Arts in Social Science at the University of Chicago.” There it is. Social science and law school. She’s another ‘social justice warrior. ‘

CTA needs to hire an experienced business leader not a kumbaya lawyer.

Ah yes, another prOgram for “outreach” to curb violence…by the CTA? More social programming from an unlikely source. More of the $1.5B, stolen from tax payers from everywhere but Chicago from the road maintenance fund, being laundered through the CTA to the NGO’s and pals of the CTA board. More tax money thrown away on a prOgram that has no chance of full-filling any of it’s objectives. By the way….what are those objectives and what are the measurable results that can be evaluated? Yeah, never mind. Somehow these 20 violence intervention specialists (wow – a long name for gang banger)… Read more »

The NITA bus just can’t stay in its lane. The CTA’s job is to provide local train and bus service at below market prices. Now the political animals operating the CTA confiscate more money from taxpayers, claiming that (long overdue) service cuts will result if Springfield political animals didn’t cave to NITA’s extortion. Springfield political animals being complete cowards, the political animals running the CTA got their pile of confiscated taxpayer funds enhanced. For trains and buses, right? Wrong. They pinched it and now want to spend it on social intervention and engineering. The chumbolones take it in the shorts… Read more »

I wonder if the newly minted director of NITA, full of smiles and promises on the media, will pull down the 375K/ year as Dorval Carter did before he made his hasty exit?

How many ways, how many times, how many programs, by how many different agencies, institutions, non-governmental organizations, and community groups which all do the same things with such dismal results before someone pulls the plug? This is more about full employment in the “helper” community than it is about “solving” any other problem.

Wirepoints’ Mark Glennon on AM560: Why We Need to “Relentlessly” Make the Blue State-Red State Case

Glennon raised the stakes of the moment in broader civilizational terms: “This election in Illinois is not about the usual pedestrian issues… it’s about nothing less than whether Western civilization survives in our democratic republic of America because [the left], just on the open border alone, will destroy the country, and now they’re bringing in the jihadists, frankly, into the party.” Audio and summary linked here.Audio and summary linked here.
