Amazon is getting back into the business of delivering non-amazon packages and we’ll see how much this shakes up the package delivery business. When UPS negotiates with the teamsters over a new contract in 5 years the package delivery landscape may be totally different. The UAW used to ride roughshod over the Big 3 automakers until nonunion foreign transplants came into the car market. The financial crisis of 2008 pretty much ended the UAW’s monopoly power over the Big 3 and we’ll see if Amazon has a like effect over the teamsters at UPS.
