A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
Dillard is gaslighting to get another taxpayer bailout. It’s like he thinks it’s 1970 — and we don’t have the internet to fact-check the lies about CTA budget blunders.
“The problem isn’t one of mismanagement. It’s chronic underfunding. Illinois ranks last among peer states in state support for public transit, covering just 17 percent of costs while most states fund 40 percent to 50 percent.
Why is he looking at what percent of costs are being funded. First compare costs of “peer” states. Might also want to define what is a peer state.
So, Kirk Dillard, head of the RTA, sez the problem is NOT Mismanagement, but State Funding?!

Kirk, come on. With ridership down at least 35% you gotta shrink the schedules accordingly.
Mamdani is talking about free bus rides and you think schedules should shrink? He’s the new leader of the Democratic Party and other progressives must follow. No way will they willingly allow cuts. Instead the “rich” need to pay more.

Beyond taking money from tax payer (your so called “Funding”), the biggest problem is selling a crappy product that not enough people use so it can pay for itself. If you need government subsidies to cover the cost of a service…there is a problem. Trouble is, you believe the problem is us tax payers not paying enough…screw off. Get the people who actually use RTA/CTA to pay for RTA/CTA. You say there isn’t any miss-management…are you kidding? If they realized there was a big problem three years (longer) ago why didn’t the raise the prices for nearly 10 years!
