King is poised to face a $520 million projected budget deficit. She’ll also be in place through school board elections this year and when a new, fully elected board is seated.
It will be interesting to see if King has any of the grit needed to try and rein in the CTU as her predecessor tried, and failed, to do. If she does, expect her to be seeking another job shortly. It’s hard to buck Gates’ posse when your boss, the mayor, is a member of their crew of thugs.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
