Ralph Martire: CPS budget challenges Springfield to pay up – Chicago Sun-Times

"When it passed, the funding formula called for the state to fully fund it within 10 years, which would be this year. But that hasn’t happened. In fact, the aggregate shortfall in K-12 funding has increased each of the last three years and currently sits at $4.2 billion. That means most Illinois school districts — including CPS — still don’t have the resources needed to fund those educational practices the research shows work."

No more money for CPS until CTU starts actually teaching, stops indoctrinating students, gets out of politics, and student test scores improve. CPS needs to close underutilized schools and lay off all staff associated with those schools. Stop the waste and spend wisely. Stand up to CTU! More money without change will not fix the schools.

The schools have received more money, and they still haven’t shown any improvement, except in the CTU’s political fund. Great results there. Doesn’t anybody study exactly what does help children learn? Sell me on what you will do differently and show me how it works. And making failing schools “Sustainable Community Schools” that continue to fail isn’ it.

Ralphie Returns! What a terrible movie. It gets the Zucker-Abrams-Zucker exclamation point, since what Ralphie opines usually resembles parody. Ralphie’s latest unfunny script looks the same as all his others. With per-student spending north of $30k, Ralphie thinks that what his benefactors in CPS/IEA need is more confiscated taxpayer funds. Never mind that JB the Hutt and his band of merry thieves have emptied Illinois coffers already. Also never mind that student achievement (where CPS/IEA reluctantly allow its measure) isn’t rising alongside the ever increasing amounts of confiscated taxpayer funds the professional educator class has received. If anything, the results… Read more »

While on the River Forest grammar school board and later Oak Park River Forest HS board, Ralph pushed for massive tax increases. Ralph excels at lobbying for more taxes. He was recorded saying he loves teaching at Roosevelt U because he can talk equity all the time. His center is primarily union funded, he is essentially a tax increase… Read more »

Boy what a fluff article, The schools need more money how many times have we read that story. If only the schools had more money, just imagine the success in reading and math. Illinois schools could have the defense departments budget and produce nothing more than what it already is producing.
