Wirepoints’ Mark Glennon on AM560: Why We Need to “Relentlessly” Make the Blue State-Red State Case
Glennon raised the stakes of the moment in broader civilizational terms: “This election in Illinois is not about the usual pedestrian issues… it’s about nothing less than whether Western civilization survives in our democratic republic of America because [the left], just on the open border alone, will destroy the country, and now they’re bringing in the jihadists, frankly, into the party.” Audio and summary linked here.Audio and summary linked here.
New Trier High School made national headlines nine years ago as a “canary in a coal mine” for political indoctrination in public schools. The canaries lived.
Among the consequences of economic growth that badly lags national averages are billions of lost revenue every year. Yet denial reigns in Illinois, fueling the vicious cycle of demand for higher taxes.
Ellis is merely the most visible example of bias in the Northern District. Here we find that the government has failed to obtain a single conviction against ANYONE charged with interfering or impeding ICE. To make matters worse, presumed grand jury “nullification” has manifested. “A Block Club analysis found at least 32 people in the Chicago area were charged with non-immigration crimes in federal court linked to protests and other altercations with immigration agents between September and November during Operation Midway Blitz. Nearly half of those cases were swiftly dismissed, and FEDERAL PROSECUTORS HAVE YET TO SECURE A SINGLE CONVICTION… Read more »
Judge Jackson on the Supreme Court is another great example of a judge that should have never been appointed.
This is correct.
This is particularly important because the Seventh Circuit is generally not known as a conservative bench, so this district judge was clearly out of line. She is a DEI hire, no question about it, and the comments above are correct that while the hope is that federal judges operate above politics and follow the law, that is not the case. Nominees get references from local US Attorneys, who are political appointees. The state’s US senators also chime in and the local Bar associations provide input. So who does all the input come from in Chicago? The Dem political organization and… Read more »
I remember the incredulous Mainstream Media reporting, and gnashing of teeth from the Liberals, when this decision first came down from Ellis. I cited that she was an Obama appointee, and my comment was met with derision.
Bet you’ll hear nothing but crickets from the MSM/Liberals now that Ellis has been overturned.
trump & his adminstration claim to be enforcing laws while at the same time ignoring and denying the laws which they don’t like-including the constitution itself. in fact, when trump was asked if he had to uphold the Constitution he replied “i don’t know”. one example of many is that he is considering running for a third term which the constitution explicitly forbids.
I thought judges were careful not to be overturned on appeal and want to avoid the embarrassment. These Democrats appointed judges are not only not embarrassed, they repeat rulings they know will be overturned. The judge in Boston repeated a ruling that had been overturned by the SC in defiance of the Supreme Court.
You should all be aware that the law students who became judges were generally not the best or brightest. Generally C or D students in law school. I’m sure there are exceptions but the judges in Illinois and Cook County are one and all political hacks barely capable of spelling “law”.
This is about a federal judge.
She’s a federal judge in Chicago. How do you think she became a federal judge in Chicago? It’s not a merit system. It’s a political system. Federal judges are appointed based upon political deals. Deals which are almost exclusively controlled by the Illinois democrat party. Federal judges may be in that C grade category as opposed to the D’s and F’s for state positions, but they are still products of the Illinois system. Sometimes a republican can get appointed but only if the democrats really need something from the republicans.
The DEI-driven federal judge appointments are a relatively recent phenomenon that began in earnest under Obama. Before that, federal judges were selected almost exclusively based on strong academic and professional credentials, such as graduation with honors from a top-20 law school, experience at prestigious firms, and prior bench appointments. The blue-slip process, where a senator could block a home-state nominee, was rarely used to deny picks, and presidents often allowed opposition-party senators to fill some vacancies. Obama disrupted this by prioritizing DEI while mostly maintaining good credentials. Republicans used the filibuster to block some nominees, leading Democratic Senator Harry Reid… Read more »
But, but where’s chuckles the clown now and his followers? Obstruction was always the goal, not the law. She did exactly what the Democrats told her to do – Obstruct Federal Law Enforcement to protect criminals and in particular international terrorist gangs.
Finally, a judge given a dose of reality as to her doggedness to contradict and eliminate all things Trump. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new trend.
The district judge doesn’t care on iota. She sees it as a badge of honor to resist Trump and be overturned by the 7th Circuit. This has become a major issue throughout the judiciary. There are several judges in the DC circuits that have been overturned twice already by the Supreme Court and just the other day a district court judge ruled again to defy the Supreme Court hoping to be overruled a third time. This mentality is very prevalent among Democrat appointed judges, given that just the other day, nearly 200 ex-judges told the Supreme Court that their unreasoned… Read more »
