Based on an analysis of states with clean energy and renewable energy mandates have sought 32 percent higher rate increase requests since 2020 than states without mandates—and mandate states have higher electricity prices as a result, which are growing at almost double the rate as no mandate states. Mandate states with the highest rate increase requests from 2020 through 2025 include California, New York, Michigan, Virginia, and Illinois, while the non-mandate states were led by Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania

Does this surprise anyone. It’s obvious to anyone who can do fifth grade math that all these renewables cost too much, are unreliable, have hidden maintenance costs, and can never compete economically with fossil fuels. So who gets stuck with the higher costs? The foolish supporters of Democrat politicians in blue states who spread the big fib.

The politically-driven effort to force a transition from traditional power to wind, solar and battery has produced an energy crisis in blue America. Progressive-led states are beset by increasing electricity rates and declining reliability. Although their leaders uniformly blame President Trump, the costs have become so high that some on the left are finally scaling back these destructive policies. But it’s no guarantee sobriety will win the day.
