This was an unprecedented attempt to nationalize elections and cement into place the very things that cause Americans to lose confidence in the election process – Wirepoints on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight

Wirepoints’ Mark Glennon was on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight this week discussing the failure of the Democrats’ national “Voting Rights” bills.

He explained that the bills were were an unprecedented attempt to nationalize elections and cement into place the very things that cause Americans to lose confidence in the election process.

Paris Schultz is a superstar in the Chicago media community. So many of them are nothing but readers of script handed to them. She does play it down the middle. Too bad her show doesnt have a bigger audience. Chicagoans might learn something from her. NBC and CBS are just worthless for any in depth news or discussion.

Both of the pro “voting rights” women proceeded to extol how great Illinois is at voting, thereby making the case AGAINST federalization of elections. Lost on them is that the legislation would enable the party in control at the federal level to force the states to follow new laws every couple years! Neither they nor the host really had any idea what they were talking about – because all they know are shallow talking points. I so wish Mark would have had one more turn to expose the absurdity of their arguments!

So, to be frank, the two women WTTW chose to represent the argument for the value of the Fed takeover attempt were weak at best. They failed to provide real evidence of suppression – they failed to explain how the legislation would make elections more safe and transparent – and, worst of all, they both sounded like simpletons.

I wish I could declare we are at peak stupidity, but I fear we still have some depth to explore.

Next thing they’re going to suppress my right to get from one place to another by requiring I have a drivers license, or suppress my right to buy beer by mandating I show ID when I do so.

Seem the behind the scenes big prize dems are shooting for is national ballot harvesting via 100% unrestricted mail in voting along with zero restrictions on who can collect or distribute those ballots… why aren’t more Republicans exposing this issue?

Requesting ID to vote is considered suppression? And racist? So when a vax card and ID are required to enter a restaurant in Chicago, is that also suppression and racism? And where are the activists claiming to protect minorities from being disenfranchised by being forced to have an ID? What’s different? Ah, yes, fixing elections, that must be the difference.

Voter suppression is the sound good mantra off the left but so difficult to give examples of.

Well now … I’m rarely embarrassed for my gender, but the three women in this overtly biased discussion came across as talking-point bubble heads. They just know a problem exists and that the Federal government can solve it, but they fail to explain the ‘problem’ or who has been injured by the current systems. They simply know that the solution lies in these so-called voting laws that will hopefully not see the light of day again. Heck, both bills have catchy names! Thanks for agreeing to sit in on this, Mark, though I doubt any of the three will even… Read more »

Sad but true. Many are my friends and neighbors. They read the League of Women Voters, listen to WBEZ then tell you how informed and caring they are. They have no idea what a bubble they live in. No wonder you hear so much about suburban women voters.

still waiting for the first documented case of voter suppression to be presented. all we get is the same yap yap yap. when will the opposition to this nonsense bring this up?

Conservative media brings it up all the time. The legacy news media just ignores it because it doesn’t fit the narrative. The news media has come to exist to support Democrat institutional values like propaganda. Everyone knows that, they don’t even hide it. So I just mostly ignore them.

Great job, Mark. I especially like the young lady saying that other states should emulate Illinois’ fine voting apparatus. You can hear people in all other forty nine states laughing their fannies off.

Mark rockin’ a mustache. Nice.

The woman from CLCCR claims her office gets inundated with calls from disenfranchised voters. Who exactly is disenfranchised in Illinois, let alone Chicago? Whose vote is being suppressed?

Clearly an ignorant Democrat wrote the “news” summary for the TV Anchor woman reading it. Democrats “failed to break the filibuster” to get the Voting “Rights” Bill passed. No. Democrats failed to CHANGE the Senate rule on filibuster which has existed for the entirety of our country! Schumer wanted to change the 220+ year rule, which actually even started in ancient Rome to stop the possible tyranny of what a 51% majority can cause. Democrats are so f’ing ignorant, it boggles the mind (and it even starts at the top — NYT and WaPo, and funnels straight down to rest… Read more »

You will rarely if ever see a committed leftist go on a conservative show to debate the issues because they realize their narrative will be exposed as false…

Kudos Mark, for being willing to venture into the lefts *lions den* & holding your own…

What an awful one sided interview against you Mark. It’s normal for WTTW but this was ridiculous. THey didn’t even ask about the filibuster thing. But very good job anyway. I got a good laugh out of your facial expressions when they directed all the questions to other people. And a new mustache I see!

You have to expect dissenting opinions are going to be the minority voice at best in the PBS forums. Gotta deal with the hand you’re dealt. WTTW moderators generally do a decent job keeping the discussion balanced.

Well, some do a decent job keeping it balanced. Paris Shultz is fantastic. Always plays it straight down the middle.
