Wirepoints’ Mark Glennon on AM560: Why We Need to “Relentlessly” Make the Blue State-Red State Case
Glennon raised the stakes of the moment in broader civilizational terms: “This election in Illinois is not about the usual pedestrian issues… it’s about nothing less than whether Western civilization survives in our democratic republic of America because [the left], just on the open border alone, will destroy the country, and now they’re bringing in the jihadists, frankly, into the party.” Audio and summary linked here.Audio and summary linked here.
New Trier High School made national headlines nine years ago as a “canary in a coal mine” for political indoctrination in public schools. The canaries lived.
Among the consequences of economic growth that badly lags national averages are billions of lost revenue every year. Yet denial reigns in Illinois, fueling the vicious cycle of demand for higher taxes.
There should be a special session to discuss the failure of teachers and the school system to actually educate our children! It is a disgrace.
Perhaps the IFT’s constant screaming for more confiscated taxpayer funds while receiving the largest piles of CTFs in history, even as student populations sink along with the academic progress of the remaining students under IFT’s purview just might be viewed as the point at which the chumbolones finally say:
“Enough.”
Tipping point? Indeed.
They can save money and just all it a ‘fiscal cliff’ like the political animals at
the RTANITA did.If teachers are underpaid they should resign. 500 resignations in Chicago might balance need with available revenue. It might also deplete the CTU treasury and strain contributions to “lawmakers.”
Help me count the wins.
Illinois state budget is actually not balanced and has a deficit. Don’t look for the state to bail out local school districts, especially Chicago’s.
They can call. But just don’t show
Tipping point? They are flush with cash. They refuse to reallocate how it is used. Enrollment has dropped significantly over time while admin grows and no attempts to shed excess inventory has been made. Temporary COVID $ was used to create permanent costs. So many ways they can reallocate $, but doing so is more difficult than telling for more $ for more jobs and facilities than are needed.
My sense is that it’s quite true that we are at a tipping point – on calling bullshit on the never-ending calls for blindly throwing more money at Illinois schools.
Jeanne and Amy had a great review today on am 560 with a great guest about school funding in Illinois OMG!
