$11M granted to Illinois minority-owned businesses – ABC20 (Springfield)

The Minority-Owned Business Capital and Infrastructure Program, which was created by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Office of Minority Economic Empowerment, offers grants specifically to promote the growth of minority-owned businesses. The program leverages bonded capital funds to support infrastructure investment in areas that are economically disadvantaged.

And who is going to help these business as they move to become viable? Just giving someone a check is insufficient – there need to be resources, etc. otherwise this is no different than setting the cash on fire…
