In all, taxpayers have spent a total of more than $172 million to settle, review and defend claims of misconduct in murder cases investigated by Reynaldo Guevara, according to a review of public records. That includes payments to outside law firms, in addition to the $27.2 million that Cook County has paid in settlements. In those cases, county prosecutors, as well as Guevara were accused of misconduct.
BS! This is just like the Central Park Five, who all spent time, rightfully so, for the crimes they confessed to. How can the City and County get a justice-oriented jury seated when the school systems that they control have a 25% adult illiteracy rate? So, they end up paying out to all these frivolous claims. Idiot Liberals will believe anything.

According to a report from May 2024, Guevara is set to collect at least US$91,000 a year for the rest of his life.
Since his retirement in June 2005, he has collected more than US$1.4 million in pension payments.
Earlier (2015) data lists his combined pensions at around US$81,030/year (police pension ~$73,904 plus a park district benefit ~$7,126) for that year.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
