“If his tenure as mayor is ever to be judged a success, he will need to reduce violent crime and defuse the city’s pension time-bomb as well.” Comment: The Economist is certainly right about pensions, but wrong about violent crime. Comment: The right to electronically record a conversation now requires you to determine the other party’s “reasonable expectation of privacy.”  Courts are often confounded by that same, circular standard.
