Comment: And their media isn’t Illinois’ either, because they recognize this simple reality: “Too many state governments adopt an antagonistic attitude toward business because it is thought that it somehow supports ‘the little guy.’ But governments that create a business-friendly atmosphere do more for those little guys than all the largess a government can ever muster.”
Comment: Read the piece linked here about how Dave McKinney peddled, or was suckered by, Rahm’s B.S. He was among the most biased reporters in town when he was at the Sun-Times.
Comment: “It’s the “no” voters who intrigue us [on the school funding bill]. We have no idea how some of them will try to justify their wrongheaded decisions.” Seriously, Tribune? You are not aware of the long, valid list of problems with the bill? The central point of the bill is perfectly fine — to redirect more money to poor districts, but that doesn’t mean it was done right.
Mrs. Rauner, however, should have popped the champagne.
Illinois has passed a budget which includes tax hikes on job creators and yet, it is not balanced. Illinois has passed so-called education reforms that do not include property tax reform, comprehensive mandate relief or any effort to address the ever-increasing pension debt our state faces. But, when it comes to pro-growth plans to secure the economic future of our state’s middle class, Springfield has failed.
With an executive order issued on August 16, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel spelled out the details that will require developers to submit plans that would include any intended and actual employment of M/WBEs in the proposed design, engineering and construction of any city development projects. The new guidelines require mandatory participation from all applicants seeking to undertake a project that would stretch the limits of zoning codes in the city.
Comment: Far left Salon may be happy with Rauner’s approach, but it sure hasn’t stopped Illinois Dems from characterizing him different.
