The city of Chicago has been hit with a second class-action lawsuit challenging its massive and massively unpopular towing program, alleging that the city fails to notify vehicle owners of the impoundment and impending disposal of their cars.

Pritzker made Illinois the most liberal state in the United States for access to reproductive health care. Pritzker said the law makes the Prairie State a “beacon” for access to pregnancy care, contraception, birth control, abortion procedures and other related benefits by making access to these things a “fundamental right.”

The state budget Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed June 5 raises higher education general funding by $154 million or 8.2 percent, the largest year-over-year percentage jump since 1990, according to the Illinois Board of Higher Education. The budget includes $1.16 billion to cover day-to-day operations at the 12 public universities. That is a 5 percent increase over last year, giving the schools an additional $52.8 million. Community colleges will receive a 12.3 percent increase from the 2018-19 school year, up $33.2 million for a total budget of $303 million.
