While CPS has previously said teachers who refuse to return to work could be fired, the Tribune reports the union will provide legal support to teachers who are too afraid to go back to the classroom.

The January 1 gun arrests come after cops arrested an average of one adult per day for illegal firearms possession near the Mag Mile during December.

Those messages have been met with threats of discipline, but the union will back any member who decides not to return and expects “a ton” of grievances to be filed, CTU leaders said.
