As of August 31 2024, Illinois had not released its fiscal year 2023 annual financial report. Based upon the state’s last audited financial report for the fiscal year 2022, it had a Taxpayer Burden of $37,000, earning it an “F” grade from Truth in Accounting. At that time, Illinois needed $175.4
billion to pay its bills. Unfunded pensions and other employee retirement obligations continued to plague the state in 2022, and we expect the same occurred in 2023.
But, JB is doing such a great job! Here’s the reality of the gem of Illinois, Chicago. Many of us who are simply biding time to get the hell out live in a bubble of relative safety… We can afford to send (or have sent) our kids to private school or, at worst, a local school that is either magnet or better, and are lucky the CPD still cares enough to respond and do their jobs. Illinois continually rates at the bottom of any study that evaluates fiscal performance of individual states. Pritzker avoids these reports like the plague, choosing instead to talk about some fluff piece that doesn’t use meaningful metrics to name “the friendliest state” or something equally silly. Many states that are well managed took advantage of the billions in free Fed Covid bucks to stabilize and/or improve their fiscal health. Pritzker p!ssed those funds away. He really is that short-sighted and awful. Plan your exit strategy now. With the media in his back pocket things in Illinois won’t be getting any better.… Read more »
Yet our leaders like Pritzker and Mendoza continue to claim they’ve ended the crisis, and many believe them, assisted by most of our media. We live in La La Land.
It’s like the end of Animal House with Kevin Bacon screaming and demanding everyone listen to him “All is Well!” “All is Well”. They are crooks who are simply getting theirs now…then walk off into the sunset… Corruption at its worst.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

The vast majority of Illinoisans have the mental capacity of lint.
