As the DePaul encampment enters its third week, student protest leaders said their message and mission will last longer than their tent encampment in support for Palestine as the Israel-Hamas war continues.
“Very little surprises me anymore in this Capitol building. But knowing how the scales have been tipped in the Chicago Public School system’s favor with regards to funding over the years … for the mayor and his minions to try and bully lawmakers into giving more money, claiming they are being shortchanged, is absolutely outrageous,” said state Sen. Illinois education officials continuously claim there’s a teacher shortage across the state. Yet data from the state’s own Illinois Report Card shows that hiring at schools has been booming over the last 25 years, especially when you consider that student enrollment has been shrinking at the same time.

In March, the EPA finalized “the strongest-ever” pollution standards in order to accelerate the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles. The EPA’s decision will also “decimate the ethanol industry and corn demand,” the Illinois Corn Growers Association said.
