Starting July 1, Illinois’ sports betting tax increased from a flat rate of 15 percent to a progressive structure with rates ranging from 20 percent to 40 percent depending on the operator’s revenues. Illinois’ video gaming tax also increased from 34 percent to 35 percent starting July 1. The change is expected to bring in an additional $35 million for the state.

As restaurants across the U.S. continue to face headwinds after the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of the Chicago’s ordinance will be closely watched. Mass arrest reported in Lake View after Pride celebrations – FOX32 (Chicago)

Just after midnight, a Chicago police officer was attacked by a 20-year-old woman who refused to follow the officer’s order in the 1000 block of West School Street; there were reports that people were jumping on vehicles and throwing bottles. Riot shields were used to clear streets and people could be seen being taken away in handcuffs. There were also reports of injuries.
