The whole world was watching when Mayor Brandon Johnson welcomed the Democratic National Convention to Chicago. “Chicago — where Ida B. Wells and Jane Addams organized to deliver real, transformative change across the country,” Johnson said. “Chicago — where Rev. Jesse Jackson united people of all different backgrounds to keep hope alive — and a community organizer on the South Side — Barack Obama — rose to the White House by reminding us, yes, we can.”

But really, for a city that’s known for high crime, all-the-time crime, round-the-clock crime, gang crime, thug crime, violent crime and regular weekend crimes of murder — it’s a tad despicable to see that when security is perceived as necessary — when the high brow are in town — then security, by gosh, is not just top notch. It’s full blown. It’s armed, and then some.”
