The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board cited Wirepoints’ analysis of Illinois’ massive pension debts as part of their piece detailing the growing secession movement in downstate counties, along with Indiana’s offer to absorb those counties. As the Board says: “when he runs for President in 2028, perhaps Gov. Pritzker can explain to voters why so many of his citizens want to flee his brand of tax-and-spend governance.”
As the legal battle unfolds, Chicago remains deeply divided on immigration, with some residents demanding stricter enforcement while city leaders hold firm on protecting the city’s sanctuary status.
Jeannette Hoyt, environmentalist and Chicago professor, said there’s a “trend” of the community not being involved in the project, including a decision to cut down 1,000 trees in the area.
Lion also halted production at its 900,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Joliet, Illinois, which opened less than 18 months earlier in a ceremony that featured Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D.) and Illinois Sens. Dick Durbin (D.) and Tammy Duckworth (D.). Pritzker said during the ceremony the “future of Illinois relies on dependable clean energy jobs” and local officials said the plant would bring 1,400 jobs to the region.
