While signing a trade agreement with Illinois, United Kingdom Consul General Richard Hyde said his country could become involved with an expansion of nuclear power. “Illinois has adopted a standard and definition of small modular reactors, which we think is a little old fashioned,” said Hyde. “We would love to open up like states around you and let Rolls Royce come and bring their technology into Illinois and drive forward small modular reactors.”

Chicago office vacancies continue to increase – Center Square

“It’s certainly bad news for taxpayers because as these property values go down in the big office properties, that means the property tax bills are going to grow higher for residential,” Wirepoints President Ted Dabrowski said, as the vacancy rates are up nearly 14 percent since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Maybe there’s a few positive signs in the numbers for downtown, but overall it still spells big trouble.”

The reforms come after Crosetti Brand murdered an 11-year-old Chicago boy in 2024. That February, the board voted to release Brand, finding there was not enough evidence he had violated his conditions of release.
