“Imposing state oversight might be an appropriate response to what has been an extended run of fiscal mismanagement,” according to the report from The Civic Federation. “The fragility of the District’s fiscal situation is susceptible to tipping quickly into crisis, which would bring harm to its reputation, credibility, and, more importantly, its students and families.”
The motion, filed Sunday, alleges the village, in seeking to buy the home, is engaging in an “endeavor with substantial cost to taxpayers with no compelling governmental necessity.”
The Governor’s office announced Monday that JB Pritzker signed a variety of bills, ranging from an expedited FOID card process, changes to the Illinois Medicaid program and the approval of the FY26 Budget.
“Some say that if you dim the lights, light a solitary candle, and whisper his name three times in a mirror … “Madigan … Madigan … Madigan” you can almost hear the ghostly hum of a once-mighty machine stir in the shadows. But tonight, that eerie incantation is replaced by the resounding crack of a gavel, the final note in a symphony of corruption, patronage, and unchecked power that spanned more than half a century.”
The charge stems from an incident just after 7:30 p.m. June 14 in Naperville. During a “teen takeover” event, an officer noticed the boy acting suspiciously, prosecutors said. After a safety pat-down, the officer found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun in the teen’s waistband and took him into custody.
Pritzker said there were “Illinois folks” listed but the governor did not provide any names of who those Illinois politicians were.

The DOJ’s filing notes that “mass public shootings accounted for fewer than 1 percent of all firearm-related homicides in the United States” between 1966 and 2023. Assistant U.S. Attorney Harmeet Dhillon posted on X that “The Second Amendment is not a second-class right,” and “See you in court, Illinois.”
Before signing the package, Pritzker claims they balanced the budget despite pressure from the White House. “This year that task was made harder by the turbulent national economic conditions and unstable federal funds flow caused by the chaos and the ineptitude of the Trump administration,” Pritzker said.
Hornbuckle is a forklift driver and said his wife’s job is keeping them from moving because it provides her with a path to student loan forgiveness. But when they meet that goal, they may be looking to leave Illinois. “Yes we love our home, but if Illinois is going to keep going this rate, we can’t afford to stay here. Eventually, inevitably, I’m going to get priced out,” he said.
“Mayor Johnson’s decision to add 50 new speed cameras is an obvious revenue grab. Chicago’s speed cameras have increasingly become about making the city money and not making the city safer,” Ald. Anthony Beale said.
Eliot Clay of the Association of Illinois Soil & Water Conservation Districts says the bipartisan bill would have assessed a fee on any agricultural land taken out of production for things like solar, wind, or commercial development. It’s been seven years since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled government unions could not force nonmembers to pay “fair share” fees in order to keep their jobs, but nearly one-third of Illinois school districts still have the invalid language in their teachers union contracts.
Newsom, Hochul, Pritzker and Walz are all too typical of sanctuary state governors. They couldn’t care less about the will of their constituents—the vast majority of whom favor Trump’s border policies and mass deportation of illegal immigrants. But the sanctuary state confederates insist on repeating the rhetoric and pursuing the policies that cost them the 2024 election. They shout, “Trump is a dictator,” believe that “non-citizen” is a synonym for “Democrat voter” and openly embrace political violence. They are no less dangerous than their Nineteenth Century forebears.
