Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates caught in property tax scheme – Illinois Policy

Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates owns a property in Indiana and receives a property tax deduction reserved for owners who actually occupy their homes, according to public records obtained by the Illinois Policy Institute. Davis Gates would pay four times more in Indiana property taxes if she didn’t take the homestead deduction.

Gates is prime example of “rules for thee, not for me”.

Please let us know if there are any more. If so, I bet they will be very, very few.

Note to Stacy – Seems like people are watching you now, I’m guessing they’ll find other things. Time to start reversing them.

What gets me is the taxes without the deduction are $1,997.00. What is the total value of the property? Is it $47K or is that based on 1/3rd or 1/10th value? Taxes at $1,997.00 seems high for a $47K home since taxes are capped in most counties in Indiana at approx 1% of value. Indiana property taxes are much cheaper than in Illinois. Regardless how much would taxes be on the same value home in Chicago or a high tax area like Rockford? As an example a $276K home in South Bend valued at $276K pays $1,661 plus 13.9%. She does not even live in Chicago or Illinois? No wonder she does not give a sh*t about our kids.

She must be domiciled in Chicago because in the process of rationalizing why she sent her kid to private school she went into detail why the CPS schools were unsuitable for black males. And no one is going to believe the kid commutes from South Bend to Chicago.

Let’s hope someone checks the Indiana statutes. In order to take the “primary residence” tax break, many states now require that you sign a statement to the effect that you do not take the same break in another state. And in many of those states it is a crime to make the misstatement. I hope she gets caught.

Indiana may not excuse carpetbaggers from IL with any leniency compared to IL letting Democrat unions and office holders slide when caught.

Wisconsin has an acronym for people like Stacy (FIB). I suppose they could use it Indiana too if Indiana didnt also begin with an “I.”

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
