Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The people in these neighborhoods steal anything that isn’t nailed down. When you’re reduced to stealing your poor neighbor’s mail, my god, that’s pathetic.
Remember when “going postal” meant someone went crazy and shot the place up? Turns out you do need to be crazy to work for the USPS. Who else but a crazy person would put up with this garbage?
