The grants are funded through Tax Increment Financing, the Neighborhood Opportunity Fund and Housing and Economic Development bonds. Finalists were chosen from 242 submissions based on location, neighborhood equity, community benefits and project readiness, according to the city’s Department of Planning and Development. Most are on the South and West sides.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
