319 QC John Deere salaried workers among mass layoffs – Quad Cities Business Journal

A combined 319 salaried workers at John Deere World Headquarters in Moline and John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline were among the mass, permanent layoffs of nonproduction workers last week by the Moline-based global equipment maker.

JD is going to shrink it’s U.S. footprint like so many manufacturers already have. It was a good run for Deere workers, much better than most.

Illinois’ current political leadership offers no reason for a private sector employer to keep jobs in a location in this state. All other states offer more competitive (lower) costs and significantly less regulation. Regarding competing with locations outside the U.S., Illinois is way out of bounds. The only thing offered is Pritzker’s handouts to his personally chose few, such as what he is trying to pull with Gotion – the guy thinks he can be king, using our money (taxes.)
