4 years of Pritzker leaves average Illinois family paying $2,165 more in taxes – Illinois Policy

Pritzker’s administration is positioning itself as an election-year giver of tax cuts and rebates, but getting $556 for one year is overwhelmed when the average Illinois household paid roughly $680 more in taxes each year. Dem machine passes budget with some tinny TEMPORARY tax breaks for chump-change voters but then pass PERMANENT legislation, like educator’s paid covid sick days or reinstating Chicago fire pension cola, that leaves it up to local municipalities how to pay for? Or permanent $2,500 pay raises to legislators? Or who knows how much it’s going to cost business and then passed on to customers to pay back unemployment loan….and on and on. Wp needs to do a piece on all the PERMANENT legislation passed that will require NEW $funding$ in the years ahead vrs the chump change TEMPORARY tax cuts
