41 Problematic Monuments Flagged by City Commission Identified – WTTW (Chicago)

In this celebrated bronze memorial, the figure of President Lincoln stands in a deeply reflective pose before a classically styled chair, from which he appears to have just risen. With his left hand on the lapel of his meticulously rendered period clothing, Lincoln looks slightly downward and steps forward, his left foot just breaking the edge of the plinth on which he stands. MLK statues need to be removed. They offend me and he is a symbol of racism to me. He was under FBI investigation. Also ida b Wells should be removed as it is offensive to me too. Go back to Congress Parkway. Also I am offended by DuSable harbor.

While we are removing monuments, street names, neighborhood names, and building names, can we also remove politicians that have been elected due to parents? Like the Cullerton’s (running city and state since 19th century), Daley’s, Madigan’s, Mell’s, etc. All of those politicians are also “problematic” by accident of their birth and should be banned from holding elective office.

And don’t forget the ones in the Chicago media group that are related to these crooks

What about “problematic” street names and neighborhood names? The only possible solution is to remove all names of streets, neighborhoods, parks, buildings, and erase all names of people born prior to the 21st century. Grant Park – gone! Burnham harbor – gone! Lincoln Park – gone! Harold Washington public library – gone!

The real cause of all this nonsense was the taking down of the Columbus statues at the insistence of the terrorist Marxist organization blm with the approval of Lori, radical cop hater Sophia King and Leslie Recht of the Grant Park advisory council. Their friends in the blm terrorist organization injured 49 cops , some seriously and they were not charged. We must all expose these people for what they are.

Well, it Doesn’t really matter what anyone outside these groups, commissions and committees think, they aren’t listening anyway and don’t really care what anyone else thinks. Them providing this “list” to the public is simply an announcement of what they have already decided to do…no need to comment. It is done. Only thing left to do is watch. The only way to change these types of actions, is for the voters to change the people in charge…and in Illinois, the damn democraps have ruined the State and will continue to do so. Their actions and plans here are obscene. With… Read more »

The real main objection to Lincoln is that he started the Republican Party, the GOP, to move away from Whigs and Democrats who wanted slavery to continue. Lincoln ended slavery in America, and Democrats can’t get over it.

My friend Robert Edsel who did the research on the Monuments Men said Hitler knew if he could take a peoples culture, he could remake the people. That’s what we are seeing today

What they mean is:

“We find everyone that came before us objectionable because we intend to eradicate you and your history from the face of the earth”

The Taliban would be proud of the monument commission.

In a very short time the city will have 297 monuments of George Floyd.

Absolutely disgraceful conduct to suggest removing statutes of Washington, Lincoln and Grant. If it were not for George Washington who knows what would be of us now, we might all be speaking French or saying God Bless the Queen. If not for Abraham Lincoln, slavery would still potentially be legal, and ditto for Ulysses S Grant who not only helped win the Civil war but as President ushered in reconstruction and took down the 19th century version of the KKK. If these boards want to split hairs by flagging certain details of these men so be it but looking at… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
